Ai Hia! Reminded of politics

I haven’t posted for a while. To be honest, I didn’t have the heart. With all that was going on in Bangkok, it seemed rather footling and self-absorbed to be writing about garden lizards or plants when the great exile lizard in Montenegro/Uganda/Dubai was presiding over all the burning and looting and shooting (in between bouts of shopping at Louis Vuitton).

Exiling Zippy the Tokay

Okay, since we’re on the topic of geckos (see previous post, below), I have to tell you that I’m pretty excited. Last night I caught a tokay gecko and cast him into exile. Sadly, I was so excited about this that the thought of photography never crossed my mind.

Gaaah! Gekkos.

There are many types of geckos. Most are three inches or so long when grown. This one's a four-clawed gecko. Pretty common.

When my brother first visited after a trip to Hong Kong, several years ago, he was excited to spot a gecko rushing across the living room wall chasing insects. “Oh look! A gekko!” he said with a grin of delight. I grunted.

Geckos had long since worn out their charm for me.
